WAHHH!!!... then the taiwanese guy in my class seem to feel easier alredy... he call'd me buddy... O.O wahhh, damn fast rite... but nvm lah... i call'd him dude... ahahaha... wat else u wan me to say... bro???... i call my skl frens dude oso lah... - -

if u read my blog, u'll noe tht i'm thinking about 3 girls... ahaha... the HK girl, the china girl n a local... ahaha, joe u noe who the local is... >< but yea, i'm not really caring much about this 'matter' lah cos its not a matter... i just itchy only... hehehe... 2day for eng i read a text about culture shock... i think i'm now at the stage where everything back home is definitely better than those of where i'm at now... so i was comparing the time it took me to noe every1 in L4 n the time it will take me to noe every in my media class... then i was oso comparing the ppl... ahaha... like i siad, i'm at the stage where everything back home is better... so rite now of course L4 ppl r way frenlier n better lah... basically to me as long as i noe who 1st, they'll be more important to me than the new ones... so yea, L4 beating this media class hands down for the moment... we'll see... i wonder who is a michelle or a YC to me or a YL to me or a joe or a kit or a keat... hmmm... ahahaha, Queen cannot compare lah... 1 in a BILLION man... ahaha... so thts all for now... will update soon...

(L-R) Me, Megan (sister),Mum, Aunty (friend's mum)

(L-R) Chengy, Me, Megan (sister),Mum, Aunty (Friend's Mum)

The above are some pictures of life in Perth@ friend's house gathering (17th Feb)

I have been in deep thought lately, about my decision to come to Australia and whether it serves me for the better. Australia to me seems so normal, but that may be due to my frequent flights here previously. People in the church I go to here ( New Life City Church- NLCC) repeatedly ask how do I feel coming here after spending 18 or so odd years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. My reply is the city is the same, I know my way around Perth and its surroundings. For Easter Holidays ( roughly which are around a week), I would be either attending Youth Camp with church or go to country WA to Esperance to experience farm life on my grand-aunt's farm. My parents are going back to KL after a month or so in Australia and I will miss their presence for the next 1 and half months to 2 months.

Just yesterday, I went to a seaside town of Fremantle (or Freo) as it is known, to reflect and eat the local delicacy, fish and chips by the harbour. It was my walks by the beach with a beautiful sunset that I realised that Murdoch University, Perth was the place for me. My parents, obviously wanted me to go in to UWA, being that my brother was doing Medicine in that particular university. Initially, I wanted to pursue Law on its own, but after recieving an option to pursue a double degree ( or double major) as it is known here, I thought to myself, why not? It fell into place being that Murdoch offered what I wanted and UWA did not. Furthermore, as like any student, the mentality as Melbourne was the place to go if you want to pursue your studies. In the end, it all boils down to what you want to do in life and how you are going to get there.

Life as a university student is no joke, it is all hard work and that desire to succeed in life that would propel you far. In Law, I have learnt that without consistent study and a good support group that you may not be able to pass as it is a subjective field. On the other hand, with Mass Communications, I have learnt that, practical work is very much a part of daily living. Here is so unlike Taylor's where you receive face-to- face attention literally daily on a fixed schedule. In university, there are around 400 plus students in one lecture and it is up to you to attend tutorials to ensure that you get the best possible out of your units and subjects. No one forces you to attend lectures or tutorials in university, you are thrown out in to a deep ocean where you are forced to swim to ensure survival. It is a competitive field, but education is the absolute key to survive in a working environment. In simpler terms, it is do or die.

Like most of us who are here at the moment, it may seem as a cultural shock. It takes time to get used to your university mates who are mostly guai-lo, who have different and diverse backgrounds. Australians in general, are very open and they love to chat. Some of us Asians, are reserved and like to keep some things private to ourselves. I have made many friends of different backgrounds, but it is good mix of both. Thankfully, the people in church make it easier to adjust. I have renewed friendships with a few friends I have here, and I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This would become home for the next 10 months or so, and I have to do all to make sure that this decision would not become one in vain but a totally exhilarating and enriching experience as I would be doing the same thing for the next 5 years, by the grace of God.

"shit! got gangster in my class!")... hehehe... we didnt noe who we would mix ard with... didnt noe who were who... but only after a week or so, we were hanging out as tho we noe each other for some time alredy...

lunches with u all were great... celebrations were fun... only sad thing is tht the girls(u noe yrself) didnt mix with the self proclaim'd 'CACAT 5' group... dude, thts lame man... i still stand by my words, y cant we just use our own names... - - i'm not one of them... so yea, imagine if we were so frens like now from the beginning... wahhh... prolly even more relationships wouldve blossom... ehehehe...

:: Update from Perth::

One thing I love about Perth or Australia in general is the plentiful opportunities to attend concerts or musical theatres. Everytime I turn on the television, it seems that a new music concert or musical is going to take place here. It's like never ending and the quality of people who play here is pretty amazing, with diverse background in music genres. For example, Celine Dion is playing here on April 4th, whilst Maroon 5 is playing here on March 28th. For the rockers, Matchbox Twenty is playing on the 15th of April, and for the older generation, Rod Stewart is touring here on March 5th. For the James Blunt lovers, he is playing here on May 9th. For theatre lovers, Miss Saigon is currently in season now and A Midsummer's Night Dream is on as well. Russell Peters the comedian is also in town as his show is on the 24th. On Sunday, Kanye West was playing at a rock festival. I am not trying to make you guys jealous, but you get the picture?

On the contrary, university is just starting, today's like the first day. I have two classes today at 11.30-12.30 pm and 4.30-5.30 pm. It is quite relaxing, but I am dreading the foundation unit because its boring by the look of the book. I am sorry, this is like late- but to Li Ling (7th Feb), Emily (10th Feb), Zhun Kit(15th Feb)-- Happy Belated Birthdays to you all respectively. Hope you enjoyed the day and keep on succeeding in whatever you do and all your endeavours.

::From the Land of Kangaroos, Koalas, Echindas, Emus and Quokkas::

I sit here in the Murdoch University Library, giving you this update LIVE and DIRECT from Perth,Australia. No, don't get me wrong, class for me has not still started. I am just taking advantage of the wonderful internet facilities that I have and can use here, while I wait for my own internet to be connected. Seriously, it takes 15 days for the internet to be connected here in Australia? On the downside, the internet companies here do not give unlimited broadband and there is a maximum bandwidth that can be used. Well, I am exaggarating la, they do have unlimited broadband but its seriously very costly. Like on average AUD 150? In KL, Streamyx unlimited can cost only RM 66. Mobile phones costs, also are really expensive, like the package I am on, I pay AUD 19 a month and I get AUD 50 worth of credit each month and a free phone. But then again, you pay 47 cents for 30 seconds and there is a flagfall for each call you make which is additional 35 cents. Note, all this costs are quoted in AUD. An national SMS is 25 cents and an international SMS is 35 cents. If you guys complain about the mobile in Malaysia being so expensive, when you come here, you would be so thankful for the rates we pay in Malaysia, which is dirt cheap!

Other than that, life in Australia, seems quite relaxing. No more hustle and bustle, and it a very good city to live in. Seriously, I think you live longer here than you do if you live in Malaysia. The weather has been seriously hot cos it is summer right now, but yesterday (Wednesday), it was raining the whole day. It has not rained for 6 months before that, whereas Brisbane and Sydney have been raining practically everyday. Here there is no mamaks, shops closes at 5 pm and they dont open on Sunday. Chinese New Year is much quieter than what it is in Malaysia. But there is no pollution and life is less stressful. Even my sister who is going to school in Perth, shares the same view. Life is more balanced, if I may say. It rained so hard that it exceeded the monthly rainfall by 20 percent.

My orientation starts on Monday, the 11th. And classes here start on the 19th of February. It is hot next week, like high 30s. The university here is ultra-big and there is a lot more space. We even have a farm on site ( for the Veterniary Science) students. We have a lot of parklands, rivers and trees. When you come from Taylor's where it is so cramped at all, the size of Murdoch University is gargantuan.

I have to go for now, and I will update you guys later. Hope to keep in touch and Gong Xi Fa Cai to everyone from the Land Down Under. If you want to contact me in Perth, my number is 0422381181 ( within Australia) and +61422381181 ( from Kuala Lumpur). Miss you guys alot......
