:: Jarum Halus::

The above blog post title, is about a movie my long-time family friend just made and is now showing in selected cinemas near you, namely the Golden Screen Cinemas ( GSC) in 1 Utama, Mid Valley Megamall and Pavilion, Bukit Bintang.

Basically, it was and is adapted from the writings of William Shakespeare in his play, Othello, but with an added Malaysian flair to it. Before you all become judgemental, it isn't one of those movies that you perceive whereby it is another one those copied- from- Hollywood type but made in Malaysia movie. Due to the fact that the director is a good family friend, I may sound biased here, but please go and support the movie as it has only about two more days of its original run as of date.

Some of you may have read the Star newspaper for the past month or so, and may have heard of this movie. It is an all- local cast, namely Christien New ( of ChristienLavin fame), Juliana Ibrahim ( Impian Illyana, Gubra), Douglas Lim ( Kopitiam), and the renowned actor Dato Rahim Razali. This main cast of actors are also joined by Razif Hashim ( of Gol & Gincu and 8TV Quickie fame), Farah Putri ( Butakah Cinta and Janji Semalam), Megat Shahrizal ( Puteri Gunung Ledang- The Musical), Justin Chan ( in the BBC/HBO drama, As You Like It and M! The Opera- Musical) and featuring model/actress/host Stephanie Chai ( of Perhaps Love , a reality TV show, and the musical/comedy/drama, KL Lights).

Here's a synopsis of the film........

Friendship. Love. Jealousy. Suspicion. Betrayal. Murder.

"Jarum Halus" is a story about the complexity and fragility of relationships, and how "little sins" can easily snowball into great tragedy.

Daniel Oh (CHRISTIEN NEW) has risen from his troubled childhood to chart his own destiny as one of the fast-rising young corporate stars at Ecotech, where he works together with his best friend Iskandar (RAZIF HASHIM) for Datuk Kalel (DATO RAHIM RAZALI).

However, Daniel's success, as well as what he perceives as Kalel's apparent favouritism towards Daniel in the workplace, builds resentment within Iskandar.

When Daniel elopes with another Malay colleague's daughter Mona (JULIANA IBRAHIM), Iskandar hatches a plot to discredit Daniel. He uses the headstrong and trusting Mona, gullible fellow employee Michael (JUSTIN CHAN), a brash secret admirer of Mona's named Rahim (MEGAT SHARIZAL) and even his own distanced wife Emilia (FARAH PUTRI) as pawns in what appears to start out as a spiteful game. But Iskandar's jealous scheming snowballs to disproportionate levels, finally climaxing in tragic consequences.

Yes, I have watched it, and you definitely would not be disappointed. However, the film may seem draggy and long-winded but for those who have not read Othello, it is an easy film to watch and is easy to grasp. This film is directed by Mark Tan, aged 23 who studied Film & Literature at The University of Warwick, England, graduating with a Masters in Art ( Creative & Media Enterprise). Plus, this film has cameos by Yasmin Yusuff and Hilmi Nor as well as Colin Kirton ( of Footstool Players and Broken Bridges- The Musical).

As someone who does not really watch local films, this film is definitely one not to be missed and it brings about good exposure towards the writings as well as works of the famous William Shakespeare. So, please go and watch it and tell me your comments:) !

::the time is now::

It seems just like yesterday back when we were entering the halls of Taylor's University College, waiting to start the SAM programme a year ago. Now, we have already been given opportunities to pursue what we really want to do in life. Some of us have a change of heart in the end, but that does not matter because it is our happiness and guaranteed satisfaction that matters most. I believe that we have learnt a lot throughout the past year and we have grown in stature and maturity-- for the best is yet to come.

Inevitably, we would all go our separate ways, but take heart of the lessons learnt that will be the foundation of our character building. Most of us, are at HELP University College, pursuing degree programs such as Law, Accounting and Management, Foundation in Arts, and Psychology. Some of us are pursuing Law degrees in Taylor's Law School. One of us would be going to Taylor's Business School to do Commerce degrees. A few of us would be going to KDU for courses such as Mass Communication. One of us would also be going to do Media in LICT.

As alike most people, some of us would be going overseas to Australia to pursue our undergraduate studies in universities in and around Australia. For your information, Ian would be studying Accounting at the University of Adelaide ( leaving on February 9th). On the other hand, Nami would be going to the University of Sydney to study Law/Arts ( leaving on February 14th). Thomas,as you all know, would go RMIT to study Media ( leaving in mid- February). Yee Pei, also would be in Murdoch University studying Mass Communication ( leaving mid- February). As for me, I would be pursuing a Law degree in Murdoch University and I would be leaving on January 28th.

We have achieved our dreams and in reality, the time is now to begin another section of life that would make us successful and define our future careers ahead. We may falter at times, but stand up, draw your swords, and it is time for a new battle. A new beginning, a new frontier and I hope that this year would be a prosperous one for all;). The time is now, let's get up and run the race that is set before us with courage and strength like the Greek warriors of the past and heroes that we look up to. Like the great ruler Napeleon Bonaparte once said," The battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls that chaos, both his own and the enemies"-- meaning if we take run the race to finish and be in control of the situation, we would emerge victorious, and succeed in whatever undertakings we go through.

Quote of the Day

" Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained."

- Marie Curie* ( 1867-1934)-

*Note: Marie Curie is a French-Polish esteemed scientist, who was a pioneer is the field of Radioactivity and the first female professor of the University of Paris. She was the first twice- honoured Nobel Laureate in the the field of two difference sciences , namely : in the field of radiation (Physics) and for the discovery of two elements in the Periodic Table- Polonium and Radium as well in the advancements in that particular field (Chemistry).

Education 101

Guess what i found on the internets . .

ButterFace adj n - (i)A term which refers to a female with an attractive body but a tainted face; (ii)An ugly lady with nice curves; (iii)The application of a paperbag comes to use for males

Examples:

Kinda reminds you of that time when you're shopping and you happen to stumble across an attractive young lady when you see the most hideous thing looking back at you. Vice versa for the women though. Sucks doesn't it ?

::Time of Our Lives::

As the year 2008 approaches, we would be all heading our separate ways to our respective universities of our choice and this blog is a good way in keeping in touch with one another. Most, if not all ( except for Kenneth and Kean Fatt-that I know of) have already started in HELP University College programmes.

Lest we remember the past year, a year filled with highs and lows that have kept us sane, and something to leave a lasting memory etched in our minds and hearts. Here is a song dedicated to all of you, wherever you may be and do, we as a class, would always be there for you in truth and life.

Time of Our Lives
Artist: Green Day

Another turning point
A fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist
Directs you where to go
So make the best of this test
And don't ask why
It's not a question
But a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life

So take the photographs
And still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf of good health
And good time
Tattoos of memories
And dead skin on trial
For what it's worth
It was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life

the update post...

this is the nxt update about wats going on... so recently the SAM results came out... i didnt do to good... i've been trying not to tell ppl bout my results but wat the heck, i got 65 n i'm damn proud of it... cos technically its in the range of 60-70%... so its not tht bad actually... but of course, if so many ppl can get about 75, me getting 65 isnt exactly very encouraging... but heck it, its done n dust'd...

in case some of u r wondering wat i'm doing or going nxt... i'm now trying to convince my parents to let me start a foundation program in RMIT... yes, tht means SAM was a waste of time n money n now i'm gonna spend even more redoing from scratch... hence the phrase, convince my parents... n if they do allow me (which means tht i've to allow them to lecture n scold me like shit n not answering them back altho they r being inconsiderate), i'll be leaving MAS this end of feb... n say i do finish the course (its a guaranteed course btw), i'll be diving into eiher advertising, professional communication or public relations... looks like melissa isnt the only 1... hehe

anyways, enough of future education... sorry i havent been spending time with u guys... i mean, my frens r always 1 step in front of u... really sorry couldnt spend new year with u guys... in my defense, the freaking way to curve from sunway was clogg'd up with cars man... i'm not lying... its like a swarm of GINORMOUS bees... well anyways, hope u guys had a nice christmas n new year... i certainly had fun... damn champagne taste good... prolly the only drink tht contains alcohol which i think is nice to drink rite b4 heineken...

bla bla bla... so wassup with u guys... ey, don only me n fatt n eli n mello (once in a blue moon) do the updating... takkan u guys all die alredy rite... - - wat r u all gonna do nxt... n pls don use the Cbox to update... - -

oh guys, guess wat... i finally msg'd whit-ni alredy... but it was just to wish her happy new year n christmas lah... so its nothing much... havent ask'd her out... don think i will either... cos i don think i even 1 2 try... should just remain like this... have this feeling lately where my feelings damn tak tentu arah lah... ahaha... sounds deep rite... but its nothing... prolly just something in my gut telling me to keep my feelings from any1 n stay single... ahahaha...

anyways... don think i'll continue... it gets boring to read so much... so yea, hope to see u all soon... WILL see u all soon... don be a stranger... n kit, don emo lah ok... not seeing me for a few weeks wont kill u... - -

orinocco flow

2007's gone.

and to think that this time last year we were all pumped up for college and excited+nervous at the prospect of facing something new altogether. anna's right - it doesn't feel like we've only known each other for a mere nine months (plus). you guys feel like my high school friends - a part of me's thinking i'm going to go back to fifteen and back to l4 and go through a whole 'nother year with y'alls. but that's not the case, huh. ]= it's over and now we're all moving on our separate ways.

so the results have been long announced and we've all had our time to sit down and figure out The Next Step. for me, i hop on board the "Already Decided" ship (along with keefy, ian, nami, eli... and whoever else who's set on their next "Big Adventure(s)"). for the year 2008 and the next three following it, i will be in limkokwing university of creative technology (LUCT), cyberjaya studying to obtain a bachelor of hons in professional communication with a major in advertising. it is a local degree and as of now, i have no plans whatsoever to live/study abroad. right now, i'm pretty much still bumming around - was meant to get a job for the "holidays" but it didn't work out. let's just put the blame on my procrastinating streak.

semester doesn't commence till post chinese new year. i might be holding a drinking session for that occasion or i might not be - it all depends but either ways, i'll keep people posted [= hope everything's goin great for y'all. happy belated ecksmas and boxing day and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

bring on the '08, baby.
